A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an better serving game.
He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
Both players exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to create a third set.
He defended four early chances in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
